Successful Delivery of GST Audit Training to Senior C&AG Officials at RTI Kolkata – June 2025

We are honoured to share that we had the privilege of conducting two in-depth Audit Training Sessions on the critical theme of “Demands and Recoveries under GST” for the distinguished Senior Officers of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service from the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG). These sessions took place on Wednesday, 18th June 2025, at the Regional Training Institute (RTI), Kolkata, located at CGO Complex, DF Block, Salt Lake, Kolkata – 700064.

This initiative was a part of a continuing capacity-building programme aimed at enhancing understanding and application of key GST provisions among senior government auditors who play a pivotal role in ensuring accountability and transparency in public financial management.

Delivering these sessions to such an erudite audience was a matter of immense pride and responsibility. The training covered a wide spectrum of topics under Demands and Recoveries in the GST regime, including but not limited to:

Legal framework governing demand notices and recovery procedures under the CGST Act

Adjudication mechanisms and appellate remedies

Practical issues and interpretations in audit observations

Roles and responsibilities of audit authorities under GST

Case studies based on actual litigation and departmental practice

The sessions were met with a highly engaging and interactive response from the participants. The senior officials brought with them rich insights, questions, and field-level experiences, which elevated the discussions and contributed to an intellectually rewarding atmosphere. The exchange of ideas between professionals and auditors strengthened the training outcomes and offered multidimensional perspectives on statutory interpretation and compliance challenges.

It was indeed a terrific and enriching experience, marked by mutual learning, insightful deliberations, and meaningful dialogues on the evolving framework of GST in India. We deeply appreciate the professional openness and enthusiasm of the participants, which greatly contributed to the success of the training.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Regional Training Institute, Kolkata and the Office of the C&AG for this wonderful opportunity. We remain committed to supporting public institutions through continued knowledge sharing, technical training, and capacity enhancement programmes.

The recording of the sessions will be shared shortly for reference and further dissemination among the officials.
